About these seeds

Sunflowers are one of the quickest, friendliest flowers a home gardener can grow. These pink-toned sunflower seeds are sown straight into the soil, grow fast, and fill a bed, border or large pot with blooms that pollinators love.

Each packet is packed in a small batch and germination tested, so you start the season with fresh, healthy seed.

Growing at a glance

Everything you need to know before you sow.

Full sun

Choose a spot with 6–8 hours of direct sun a day.

Sow about 1 inch deep

Press each seed in about 2.5 cm deep and cover lightly with soil.

Space 6–12 inches apart

Thin seedlings to the spacing on your packet so each plant has room.

Keep soil evenly moist

Water gently until seedlings appear, then deeply but less often.

Sprouts in 7–14 days

Warm soil speeds things up. Don’t worry if some seeds take a little longer.

Pots work too

Use a deep container, at least 12 inches, with drainage holes.

These are typical growing conditions for sunflowers. Always follow the sowing guide printed on your packet.

Questions, answered

When should I sow sunflower seeds?

Sow once the soil is warm and the danger of frost has passed. In very hot climates, sow at the start of the growing season so young seedlings aren’t scorched by peak summer heat.

How many seeds should I put in each hole?

Drop in one or two seeds per hole. If both sprout, snip the weaker seedling at soil level so the stronger one has room to grow.

Can I grow sunflowers in pots?

Yes. Use a deep pot, at least 12 inches, with drainage holes, and place it where it gets full sun. Taller plants may need a stake.

Do the plants need support?

In windy spots, tall plants benefit from a stake tied loosely to the stem. Water deeply so roots grow strong and anchor the plant.

Can I save seeds from my plants?

Yes. Let the flower heads dry on the plant until the back turns brown, then rub out the seeds and store them somewhere cool and dry for next season.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?
